My family has been visiting Pronti's for oh, probably about 30 years now, and the torch that I carry for this fantastic little hole in the walls continues to burn bright. If I could only eat at one Italian restaurant for the rest of all eternity (what an awful thought), I think it would have to be Pronti's. Words that come to mind when I think of Pronti's are "quaint," "cute," and "homey". This isn't a fancy place, nor does it attempt to be a fancy place. The walls are filled with framed autographed photos of celebrities and athletes (most of whom are Italian). Large leather booths and dim lighting lend themselves to a slightly mafioso kinda vibe, just maybe, if you use your imagination. Taking nostalgia out of the equation, the food is what keeps me coming back here after all of these years. I now live out of state, and whenever I visit South Florida, I demand to be taken here so I can order my beloved Spaghetti with Mushroom Marinara. If you are a mushroom lover, this is an absolute must. The sauce is loaded with mushrooms, and they are marinated in some sort of vino-based concoction- the recipe for which I am fairly certain must have been sent down to the Pronti family from the angels up in Heaven. The pasta fagioli is also quite excellent, and the bread is just as it should be- crusty on the outside, and warm and soft on the inside- served with oil and vinegar for dipping, of course. Yes, the prices seem to have crept on up a little over the years, but in my opinion, still worth it...so much better than similarly priced garbage they are dishing out at unoriginal chain restaurants, and I can usually get at LEAST two, sometimes three meals out of the entrees at Pronti's. So, you can't beat that with a stick.

I'll give it a 5 star for the nostalgia. This is a landmark in the area. I've personally been going there since the early 80s. It seems like the people running it don't care about the appearance whatsoever, there is a chef statue outside rhetoric front door missing a hand and has been for a few months now, the booth seats are all ripped up and in need of repair badly. It's really quite sad because once upon a time when Bob Pronti ran it was in tip top shape and it was always busy. People still love it because I still see it packed at dinner time but It seems to be a shadow of what it once was however the food is spot on. From what I hear the chef bought it.. although they ***really should take pride in this place it is a gold mine in disguise ***

I hadn't been to Pronti's in years-literally years and nothing has changed. Is that bad or good? Well, in a way I guess they are trying to be like the ol' New York pub style The Gorgonzola cheese dressing salad was the same as ever-there was too much dressing and I felt I was digging around trying to find the lettuce. Like "Brett S. said, "someone got carried away with the pepper shaker." The pizza was alright and we had to ask for sauce (I don't think there was any on it). Looking around at the decor I felt like "Restaurant Impossible" needed to come in there and re-do the place. Oh well, not sure I will come back. It seemed better in the old days.

Yelp comes thru again! It was my husband's birthday and he loves Italian food so being as we were here on vacation, I turned to Yelp for a suggestion. The food was great. I had the chicken w artichokes and mushrooms and my husband had the eggplant parm, his usual go to dish. Both were served w pasta w a tasty marinara sauce. The portions were very generous and the waitress (Joanie) was so friendly. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the salad had a lot of iceberg lettuce (not all) and the bread was bland. However, they brought us some Gorgonzola cheese on the side to add to our salad, which was a nice touch. Yes, the place is a little dated inside but when we entered, the owner said " how about sitting in Yankee stadium?" and pointed to a booth in the corner that had all pictures of past Yankee baseball players. I told him I was from Boston but would sit there anyhow when he said that it also had pictures of Ted Williams and Carl Yaz. On the way out, he told me to tell my Boston friends about the place and I said "Go, Sox" and we parted happily.

Decent food. Nice authentic NY Italian atmosphere. Very good pizza and decent meatball sub. Nothing out of the ordinary but I'll go back again if nearby

I like change. I like new experiences. But some things need to stay the same! Like Pronti's. It was good 30 years ago...it still is...don't change it! I don't really even mind the dated look. I feel like I'm in Milwaukee or Chicago in a great old pub like Miller's in Chicago, or an old, family-run Italian restaurant. Love the food! Service is good. Thanks for leaving it alone!

I'm rating strictly on the pizza. Must get the New York pounded pizza with sausage and ricotta on top. Amazing!! The decor is old school Italian style with photos and memorabilia but I like it. Makes it feel homey and they have a full bar.

Nice local Italian restaurant. Good food and nice intimate atmosphere. Great food and pizza, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. Recommend for takeout or sit down dinner!

Server was ADD, but still managed to deliver food to the table. Chicken parmesan tasted like it was submerged in a vat of oil during a mummification process. Also, the side broccoli was coated with butter hose like a race riot protester from the 60's. Salad was of the "outta dat dere bag" variety. Not really a reason to return.

As soon as I walked in, I knew the food was going to be amazing. Pronti's oozes authentic Italian with the decor and the aroma of fresh homemade Italian food. We actually ended up here by pure happenstance as we were on a vacation and heading toward Orlando from the Keys. The BBQ place our iPhone maps app suggested off of the highway was closed for the evening and Pronti's was just a couple of doors away. We decided to try it since it was about 9:15 on New Year's Eve and most family friendly joints would be closing soon. We definitely didn't want to grab fast food again. My wife described the decor the best when she said that it had a Buca Di Beppo vibe, but it wasn't fake. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We found out they had been open since 1971 (longer than I've been alive) and the meatballs are handmade daily, which reaffirms the idea that the food is going to be great. Everything on the menu sounded appetizing. I settled for the veal Parmesan with spaghetti & meat sauce. It came with a salad too. Every bit of it was delicious! My kids ordered spaghetti & meatballs and lasagne. I tried both and they were just a delicious as my entree. Both of them finished every bite, which is pretty rare at 5 and 6 years old. I probably could've ordered just about anything and been very happy with my choice. My wife ordered soup and salad, which was very hearty and filling I was told. The portions are just right. The kids had half orders, which were perfectly sized for them. Overall one of the best Italian places I've ever been. From the service to the food, everything was wonderful. Pronti's will definitely be on my list of places to stop each time we visit Florida.

We went to Pronti's on Thursday because we have never been there and it didn't thrill me. We entered Pronti's and I immediately smelled something off, slightly musty. The interior was dim and looked very dated with old black and white sports pictures adorning the walls, only some of which were signed. It reminded me of an early 80's restaurant. Ok, now for the food. We ordered the Calamari appetizer. This I must say was the highlight for me as far as the meal was concerned. It was not the typical fried calamari, but instead it was cooked in a broth and was very tender. The broth itself was great for dipping the bread that you were given, which appeared to be sub rolls. The salad was typical iceberg lettuce with a few olives and some carrot pieces. For my entree I chose the fettuccine Ala Pronti (their version of Alfredo) with scallops and shrimp. I was very disappointed in this. The sauce was bland and the scallops and shrimp appeared to be boiled with no taste of their own. I have never had seafood that wasn't seasoned and seared. The scallops and shrimp came out pale white and rubbery. I had to douse the fettuccine with Parmesan cheese and crushed red peppers to make it palatable. My girl had the meat tortellini with the same sauce but it was slightly better, but she said she would not order it again. I'm not sure if this is normal for them, but I don't think that I would go back for the $72.00 tab. Maybe the lack of seasoning is due to the clientele being a little older. Just for the record, I hate giving negative reviews and gave it two stars because we liked the calamari.

We have been coming to Pronti's for close to 10 years, but not so much lately. It is an old fashion place reminiscent of Manero's steak house. Think of old pictures of famous people on the walls and low lighting. Tonight we had the gargonzolla salad which was good. they served us hot bread with oil to dip which was good, except someone got carried away with the pepper shaker. Finally we finished off with a large New York style cheese pizza which was excellent. On the negative side the place looks tired and needs updating. That is the main reason that I give it 3 stars. Just too many good competing choices around these days.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
